Meet Jonathan #LDR

Meet US. Yup, somehow I got myself into a long distance relationship. AKA LDR. It was never planned & for sure never fathomed. Because honestly, who wants to put themselves through all the extra leg work of being in this sort of relationship? Surely not someone who is as clingy as me. But it happened & since then, I’ve been feeling pure bliss.

LDRs are for sure not for everyone but if you’re thinking about it, here’s how I deal & hopefully it helps you too.

  1. You’re not going to see each other often. Yup. This is the part where it kills me the most. Yeah, we FaceTime and call each other often (probably every day) but I mean, it’s not the same as having someone in your arms or holding hands. Chill girl, hold that stuffed animal he bought you, count down the days until you guys get to see each other again & live your life. Being in a LDR really forces you to be independent & deal with shit on your own. You get this huge opportunity to love you & find ways to make yourself happy when your BAE isn’t around. THAT’S A GOOD THING.
  2. BAE might have a side BAE. Trust him. Honestly, that’s what makes a LDR work & you’ll find that you are actually learning how to trust people more often.
  3. Communicate. Simple as that, if you don’t learn to tell him what’s on your mind in that moment, he can’t fix it. He can’t see your face & he doesn’t know what you’re thinking because uh – hello, you haven’t told him! Yeah, it’s hard & yes I still struggle with this but it also helps to build a stronger relationship.

Yeah, it’s not easy but at the end of the day you know he’s worth the journey.
